The Adams State University School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) recently received a $25,903 grant as a subaward from the US Department of Defense and the National Security Agency via Fordham University to develop a cybersecurity lab, which will be implemented in a cybersecurity course in the fall of 2024.
Ahmed Shafee, Ph.D., assistant professor of computer science, is working on developing the program for students. The demand for high paying cyber security jobs continues to grow and the course will prepare Adams State students for the field.
“The cyber security lab will bring numerous benefits to the university and its students,” said Dr. Shafee. “The hands-on experience that students will gain in the lab will help them to develop practical skills that they can use in their future careers.”
Additionally, the lab will help Adams State increase its visibility in the field and enhance its reputation as a leader in cyber security education. With the cyber security lab, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and software, which will help them to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
