There is still time submit a paper for the Adams State University English, Theatre, and Communication Department The Road Taken Conference on April 15. The conference will focus on best practices in teaching for middle and high school English teachers, but teachers of other subjects are invited to participate. The free event will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, April 15, in McDaniel Hall.
Teachers are invited to present a 15-minute paper on their best lesson or unit in English, Theatre, or Communication. Graduate credit is available for participants. Deadline for submissions is March 15.
Middle and high school students are invited to read their best papers or creative works, up to ten minutes.
The conference will include a keynote address, Leadership, by former US Congressman John Salazar.
Events include a round table on transitioning from high school English to college composition led by former CoADE president, Kathleen Chavez; a reading of creative works by San Luis Valley native and Adams State Professor of English Aaron Abeyta, and a performance by the Adams State Improv Troupe, “Lost and Found.”
Light breakfast and lunch provided for all participants. Registration and meal costs are covered by Adams State University.
