A relatively new development, a television showrunner is hired to be the person “in charge” of a television series, and that person’s biggest role is leading and guiding the writers, as good or bad television comes back to the writers. The Adams State University Faculty Lecture Distant Cousins: Showrunning: The Leaders of Your Favorite TV Shows, by Dr. Beth Bonnstetter, associate professor of communications, begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in McDaniel Hall room 101.
The lecture will cover the role of the showrunner in television series production and will briefly discuss how a television series was run prior to the showrunner, the role of the showrunner, and the importance of what happens in the Writer’s Room.
All ASU Faculty Lectures in the series are free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments will be offered. For further information on the series of lectures, contact Dr. Joel Givens, assistant professor of counselor education, at 719-587-7551 or joelgivens@adams.edu.
