The Adams State University Department of Music presents Japanese clarinetist Chiho Sugo in recital at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in Leon Memorial Hall. Sugo will be joined by Tracy Doyle, flute; Angela Winter, horn; Lancer Hardy, bass; James Doyle, marimba; and Tyleen Stults, piano. The recital will feature works by Arnold, Brahms, Douglass, Revier, and Tsuboi.
Sugo, associate professor at Gunma University, teaches wind instruments and other courses including Japanese Traditional Instruments. As an active clarinetist, she gives chamber recitals regularly in and around Tokyo. Her first CD, Regenlied (2014) includes the Brahms Violin Sonata played on E-flat clarinet. She earned her Master of Music at Morehead State University and completed Doctoral course work at Louisiana State University. She is a member of the Japan Clarinet Association and is currently a visiting scholar at Adams State.
Tickets will be available at the door and are $5 for adults, $1 for
students and seniors, and free to AS&F and Friends of Music.
