The Adams State University Chamber and Concert Choirs will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, in the Sacred Heart Church, located in Alamosa, Colo.
This diverse program will include works from Columbia, Nigeria and the Sotho and Zulu cultures of South Africa, as well as an American hymn and spiritual. "Inscription of Hope," by Z. Randall Stroope, is a setting of a text found on the wall of a cellar in Germany where Jews were hiding from the Nazis during World War II. Ēriks Ešenvalds is an awarded Latvian composer who beautifully set the Sara Teasdale poem, "Stars," for a cappella choir with crystal glasses. From the Western classical tradition, we will also be performing works by Thomas Morley and Felix Mendelssohn.
