Adams State University hired two new top administrators in May.
Henry Robinson, Ph.D., with more than 33 years of higher education experience, was named the new Vice president of Student Affairs, and Katelyn Smith is the new Athletic Director.
Both will be members of the executive council and report to President Cheryl D. Lovell, Ph.D.
Dr. Robinson brings over three decades of higher education professional experiences. He has an array of expertise focused on counseling and TRIO-Upward Bound programs, Student Services Educational Opportunity Programs, and a strong commitment to serving all students, especially first-generation students and those from diverse backgrounds. He has an impressive track record of securing federal funding for a variety of programs supporting Youth Pre-College Initiatives, Adult Student Services Initiatives and Undergraduate Student Success Initiatives. He spent the last decade at Wayne State University, where he developed and led programs and services to ensure college access and fostered student development to nurture student success. Ms. Smith established herself as a key member of the Grizzly athletic department in 2018 when she first joined it as business manager, then earning promotions to Co-Athletic Director and serving as the key point of contact for Title IX at Adams State. With additional experience in booster memberships, game day operations and team travel, she stood head-and-shoulders above a field of more than 100 applicants. Visit ASU New AD.
