Standing Strong: The ASU Equality Project, in partnership with One Colorado, presents The Impact of Religious Exemption Laws: A Public Forum at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the Adams State University Main Stage Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.
The forum will explore the impact and legality of religious exemption laws that have been proposed in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of marriage equality.
"This is a hot-button issue. Across the nation, people are talking about what constitutes an act of religious freedom and when does that action become an act of discrimination. This forum will examine those issues and much more," said Dr. John H. Taylor, professor of theatre.
One Colorado is the state’s leading advocacy organization dedicated to advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Coloradans and our families.
Standing Strong: The ASU Equality Project is a collaboration between the Adams State University Theatre Program and the ASU LGBTQ Faculty and Staff Coalition. The project celebrates efforts to create a more inclusive society by dismantling barriers to equality. From September 25 through October 3, there are a variety of events which examine where we have been, where we are, and where we are going as we work to create a more perfect and just union.
