The Adams State University Department of History, Anthropology, Philosophy, Political Science, and Spanish will host a panel discussion, The Politics of the Black Lives Matter Movement: Policing the Police, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, in McDaniel Hall room 101. The event is free and open to the public.
Moderated by Dr. Lisa N. Nealy, assistant professor of political science, the panel will include Dr. Robert Demski, professor of psychology; Officer Erica Deurion-Green, Adams State Police Department; Dr. Richard Loosbrock, associate professor of history; Meagan Smith, assistant to VP of Finance; and Dr. Benjamin Waddell, associate professor of sociology.
Nealy said the audience can expect a serious intellectual discourse about the Black Lives Matter Movement as the new vanguard of the 21st century whereby the panel will present their viewpoints on this salient topic. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelist following presentations.
"My mission is to raise the political and social consciousness regarding human rights as well as civil rights violations of Black people," Nealy said.
