The Adams State University Hatfield Gallery will host DeliRIOus in RIO, photographs by Pedro Jardim de Mattos, a Rio de Janeiro based photographer through November 5, 2015. An opening reception will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in the Art Building. The artist will be present.
Pedro Jardim de Mattos’s passion for photography emerged when he was just a teenager. He began by specializing in studio portraits. It is in capturing people, snapping at the very moment of a glance, a gesture, an expression, that continues to spark his interest. Equal to his passion for capturing people is his love for photographing them in their environments.
Jardim de Mattos studied photography and graduated from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He then earned his law degree at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
For many years, Jardim de Mattos lived in several other cities in Brazil and around the world. Each time he came back from London, Recife, Brasilia, Lisbon or Madrid he looked at the city the same way a stranger or foreigner does. He saw the city from the outside. During the last four years, he has shown his work in more than a dozen different countries representing Brazil through Brazilian government invitations. He has sold more than 100 photographs to collectors around the globe, in countries including: Austria, Brazil, USA, Thailand, France, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Chile, and Indonesia.
The Cloyde Snook Gallery will host The Collaboration Project, Eugene A. Schilling’s sabbatical exhibition, during the same time frame.
