The Adams State University Board of Trustees voted Friday to install Trustee Michele Lueck as chair of the board and Trustee Donna Griego as vice-chair.
Lueck, president and CEO of the Colorado Health Institute, has served as an ASU trustee since May 2016, and Griego, an Adams State alumna and retiree, has been on the board since December 2017.
“I am honored to be here and delighted to serve in this capacity,” Lueck said, noting the challenge of replacing Cleave Simpson as chair of the ASU Trustees.
Other board members are past chair Cleave Simpson, general manager of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District in Alamosa; Pam Bricker, business owner in Del Norte; Reeves Brown, project coordinator for Building a Better Colorado in Denver; Wendell Pryor, director of the Chaffee County Economic Corp. in Salida; John Singletary, real estate broker and developer in Pueblo; and Randy Wright, operations manager for FormationAg in the San Luis Valley.
The Board of Trustees consists of nine voting members appointed by the governor with the consent of the state Senate, and two non-voting members elected by the faculty and the students, respectively. The two current non-voting members are James Doyle, ASU faculty trustee, and Mariah McDermott, ASU student trustee.
There is one vacancy on the board following the resignation of Kathy Rogers, who stepped down to focus on her role as economic development director for the city of Alamosa. Rogers continues to serve on the Adams100 Commission, which is an appointed commission of the ASU Trustees to plan activities for the University’s 100th year celebration in 2021.
The trustees held their first-ever joint meeting with the Adams State University Foundation board so both groups could jointly receive a progress report on work of the Adams100 Commission.
