The next Adams State University Faculty Lecture "A Bold New Path: Colorado’s Novel Approach to Marijuana Policy," by Dr. Thomas Heddleston, assistant professor of sociology, begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Porter Hall room 130.
This lecture will examine the passage, implementation, and consequences of Amendment 64 in Colorado. It will focus on how the campaign to pass the amendment was successful and how it was an outgrowth of Colorado’s medical marijuana policy. We will appraise the consequences of the law’s implementation, focusing on use rates, tax revenue, tourism, and changes for law enforcement. The lecture will conclude with an evaluation of how Colorado’s law affects the nation and the world.
