Ana Melendez, assistant professor of art, presented for Kindred Spirits on December 4th and the entire art department participated in the Faculty Show from November 6 through December 10 in the Cloyde Snook Gallery, with a special focus on new faculty, Ana Melendez and Peter Evan Costas, assistant professor of art.
Matthew C. Schildt’s, Ph.D., professor of music, composition “Two Autumn Reveries” will be performed at the Society of Composers conference at the University of Maine in February, 2025.
School of Visual and Performing Arts Director and Theatre Department Chair John Taylor, Ph.D., was asked to write a monthly column for the Valley Courier titled “The Ghostlight Column.”
Billy Ulibarri, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology, participated in the Title V Team Internship Program. He coached with AJ Webb, assistant professor NTT of Management, Liz Hensley, Ph.D., School of Business Director, and Mark Manzanares, Ph.D., professor of counselor education. Dr. Ulibarri worked with students over a 10-week period coaching them to find solutions to “How can we get more Adams State students downtown?” And he presented to the City of Alamosa on Nov. 18, 2024 at Vistas.
Dr. Ulibarri coordinated internships for on-campus sociology students, including hosting the Sociology Internship Showcase on December 4, in Nielsen Library. Nine students shared their experiences at the showcase, a public demonstration of workplace learning, aligned with High Impact Practices. Internship sites included the SLV Boys and Girls Club, Tu Casa, La Puente, Upward Bound, and others.
