The Adams State University Faculty Percussion Recital by James Doyle will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, in Leon Memorial Hall.
Music will include Electric Counterpoint by Steve Reich; Woodpecker by Louis Andriessen; First Concerto by Lou Harrison; After the Crash by Andrew Staniland and New-thaan by Bob Becker.
Electric Counterpoint was originally composed for guitarist Pat Metheny and is for a soloist with prerecorded backing tracks. Doyle will play marimba and vibraphone and recorded the backing tracks in the Adams State Recording Studio with the engineering and producing assistance from Dr. Matthew Schildt, professor of music. James Doyle will be joined by Dr. Tracy Doyle, Music Department Chair, on the Lou Harrison work.
The recital is free to AS&F and Friends of Music. Tickets are $5 for adults and $1 for students and seniors.
