The Adams State University Faculty and Staff Lectures Series changed the day and location of the lectures for the spring 2017 semester. The first lecture this semester, Evolving Importance from the East Wing: First Ladies in the Twenty-First Century, by Jess Gagliardi, instructor of developmental education, will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in McDaniel Hall room 101.
First Ladies of the United States have become more important and influential, especially in the twenty-first century. Since 2000, First Ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama have all been highly active in the administrations and the country, but have also exhibited a strong dedication to their own causes. This has created a new facet in the importance of the First Lady. This lecture will feature the highlights of the First Ladyships of Clinton, Bush, Obama, as well as incorporate discussion on Melania Trump as First Lady in these early days of the new president.
