The Adams State University Faculty Lecture The Webbing-in-Between: Creating Our Identities Through the Stories We Weave, by Courtney Allen, Ph.D., assistant professor of counselor education, begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in McDaniel Hall room 101.
Allen will discuss narrative theory, which is a therapist technique that focuses on narratives in creating meaning and making sense of the world. She’ll also further explain how therapists will use this technique to help their patients in re-authorizing their stories in a way that makes them feel less stuck by the situation, therefore making it possible to create a shift in the individual’s identity through a new sense of power and standing on the situation.
All ASU Faculty Lectures in the series are free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments will be offered. For further information on the series of lectures, contact Dr. Joel Givens, assistant professor of counselor education, at 719-587-7551 or joelgivens@adams.edu.
