Adams State University Dr. Carol Guerrero-Murphy will be joined by fellow author and friend, Laura Pritchett, for a public reading of their recent work. The event, Further Adventures, begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in McDaniel Hall room 101. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Guerrero-Murphy has been a professor at Adams State University for 20 years. She has taught hundreds of writing courses, authored the book Table Walking at Nighthawk (Ghost Road Press 2007), and published many poems and short prose pieces in regional and national journals. Her work has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes, earned a WILLA (Women Writing the West), and her Lucky poems are recently anthologized in “Manifest West” from the University Press of Colorado. As she transitions from classroom teaching, she plans to continue publishing creative work including “Birth, Flesh, and Other Pastures,” and “Over in the Meadow.”
Pritchett is an American author and conservationist whose work is rooted in the American West, particularly the mountains of Colorado. She is the author of the novels Stars Go Blue, Sky Bridge (winner of the WILLA Fiction Award), and Hell’s Bottom, Colorado (winner of the Milkweed National Fiction Prize and the PEN USA Award), and has two novels forthcoming from Counterpoint Press. She received her BA and MA in English at Colorado State University and her Ph.D. in Contemporary American Literature/Creative Writing at Purdue University.
