The Adams State University Department of Music presents the ASU Honor Festival Showcase Concert, featuring: vocal jazz ensemble 68 West, under the direction of Beth Robison; ASU Faculty Shellie Beeman, soprano; Tracy Doyle, flute; James Doyle, marimba; and Angela Winter, horn; and special guests Leslie Kahler, clarinet; Chris Dickhaus, saxophone; Kurt Bonnett, trumpet; and Ethan Wills, trombone.
This special concert is part of the Adams State Top of the Nation Honor Festival, an annual event that brings over 200 talented high school singers and instrumentalists to campus. The concert begins at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in Richardson Hall Auditorium. We invite the community to take part in this free concert, and in welcoming high school students from through Colorado to our campus.
In addition to the showcase concert, the Top of the Nation Honor Band will perform at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in Richardson Hall Auditorium and the Honor Choirs will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, in Sacred Heart Church, located in Alamosa, Colo. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Guest conductors include Paul Mayhew, director of choral activities at Ohio University, and Shannon Kitelinger, director of bands at San Diego State University.
