Due
to the wind and rain forecast for the next two days, the Adams State University
Mars Habitat Project will be on display inside the High Altitude Training
Facility (the Bubble) located near Plachy Hall. The project will be open to the
public from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 30.
The Adams State University Sculpture program has organized a two-day public event showcasing a Mars Habitat concept outdoor installation.
The Mars Habitat concept outdoor installation will include a life-sized shelter complete with workshop, hydroponics, 3D printing, robotics, and other technology in addition to living quarters. Multiple large kinetic sculptures will be on site, some of which will be highly interactive. Mars themed student artwork will be on display from area schools, and the Zacheis Planetarium will have Mars related content in concert with this event.
The following collaborators made this event possible: SLV STEAM Shop, ASU Robot Lab, Zacheis Planetarium, Earth Bound Moon artists collaborative, and Adams State Departments of Art, Computing Science, and Physics.
The project was partially funded through grants from the Colorado Space Grant Consortium and Adams State Office of Title V Initiatives.
