Adams State University’s Community Partnerships and the Southern Colorado Film Commission are pleased to host a Media Professionals Career Workshop provided by Colorado’s Office of Film, Television and Media. This workshop opportunity will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in Adams State’s Art Building, room 227. The event is free and open to the public.
Attendees to this no-cost event will hear from Colorado State Film Commissioner Donald Zuckerman regarding the State’s initiative to expand the film industry in Colorado. The Office of Film, Television, & Media, formerly the Colorado Film Commission, is now a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
Zuckerman has produced several major motion pictures and has worked with some of Hollywood’s top directors and actors. His most recent feature films include CASINO JACK with director George Hickenlooper starring Kevin Spacey, and "Not Forgotten", starring Simon Baker and Chloë Grace Moretz. Zuckerman has also produced multiple television series, created a number of successful New York City nightlife venues, and managed recording artists and sports professionals. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received a law degree from the Boston University School of Law.
Other high-profile presenters will provide their various perspectives related to their profession within the film industry, including:
Duke Hartman, Chief Operating Officer of High Noon Entertainment, who is responsible for overseeing all of High Noon’s production operation from both strategic and day-to-day perspectives. An award winning single- and multi-camera director, Hartman also lends his creative expertise to select feature projects for High Noon. Duke currently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Film Commission and is on the Board of Trustees of the Colorado Ballet.
Alexandre O. Philippe holds a master’s degree in dramatic writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and is creative director of Denver-based Cinema Vertige and Exhibit A Pictures. He has written, directed and produced numerous award-winning films and documentaries.
Sheila Ivy Traister is a director, writer and an award-winning actress with over 30 years in Film, Television, Theater and Improv. Ivy Traister created the acting department at the Colorado Film School in 1999, writing their first acting class and a directing course. She coaches other actors, directors and writers for the stage and on-camera. She is the President of the Colorado Local of SAG-AFTRA and a national board member.
Marc Snider began Exposure Productions in 2000 as a small, mountain oriented Production Company serving outside clients as well as producing their own in house independent films and video. Prior to Exposure Productions, Snider worked on Hollywood features and commercials in a variety of departments, as well as a freelance cameraman for broadcast television.
Julie Speer is director/executive producer, Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting. She is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, producer, director, videographer and editor. Her specialty areas include social justice, nonprofit, political documentaries, TV and video.
