The Adams State Art Department Rare Artist in Residency (AIR) Series welcomes everyone to come out and meet artist Natasha Vidger. The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the north lobby of the Visual Arts Building. Light refreshments will be provided.
Vidger was born and raised in central Colorado and now lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Adams State and her Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from Herron School of Art. Her artwork focuses on the nature/wildlife that is native to the Rocky Mountains.
In the early years of her art career, Vidger used surreal platforms to give way to animal form, composing her art subject’s voices. Today, Vidger’s art platform is enormous canvas that features life-sized drawings of wildlife. The drawings show the qualities and aspects that differentiate and unite animals and humans. The landscapes in the art tend to be void and atmospheric to demonstrate the isolation of the environments the animals transverse. Overall. her artwork aims to provoke the compassion for the animals in hopes to transcend the barriers between the species.
