Dr. Allen was also recognized as an Advocate of the Year-Finalist for the Colorado School Counselor Association. She was one of two finalists.
Sandra Gavin, Ph.D., assistant professor of counselor education was invited to be a pre-conference speaker for the SAIGE Conference. The division is called: SAIGE (Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities). She pre-recorded a presentation with two of our doctoral students. It was a two hour presentation including a role-play.

Chayan Lahiri, Ph.D., assistant professor of geoscience, co-authored Cody Fehringer, junior geology major; and Marli Crowther, senior geology major; posters. The students presented their research posters at the annual conference for the Geological Society of America in Denver, October 9-12.
On September 24th, Assistant Professor of Music Melinda Leoce was in attendance at the European Drum Corps Championships where Jubal Drum and Bugle Corps competed. Leoce composed and arranged music for the group this year. Jubal took home first place in the Premier Class, earning them the title of current European champion. Jubal also won “High Percussion,” meaning their percussion section placed first amongst all competitors. Leoce will continue to write for Jubal for the 2022-23 season.
The CD Matthew Valverde, D.M.A., associate professor of music, recorded with Border CrosSing in Minneapolis, “Un milagro de fe/A Miracle of Faith,” is up for consideration for this year’s “Best Choral Performance” GRAMMY®. Visit Border CrosSing for more information.
The Visual Art Faculty Annaliesa Connor-Meissner, Margaret Doell, Kristian Gosar, Anthony Guntren, Nora McBride, E. A. Schilling, and Bill Tite will be featured in the Fuller Gallery in La Veta, Colo. from November 8 until January 7, 2023, with an opening reception scheduled for November 12.
