Congratulations to our newest graduates who received their degrees on May 14 in Plachy Hall, our first full in-person commencement since the world was upended by Covid.
Our undergraduate commencement speaker, Dr. Angie Paccione, executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, spoke about realizing potential. Dr. Paccione, the daughter of an unwed teenager in the Bronx, NY, found an avenue for success through education and playing basketball; she received many accolades for both (including a scholarship to Stanford) despite the perceived lack of resources. Our students, too, have overcome adversity, especially in the face of the pandemic and should be applauded for their tenacity.
While summer is certainly nice in Alamosa and the Valley, we look forward to having our students back in just two months. It’s why we’re here.
I hope whatever plans you have for summer they include moments to remember your time at Adams State and when you do, reach out to us – visit our webpage or on social media. You’re a valuable piece to the Adams State story so please stay connected. Once a Grizzly, always a Grizzly.
