In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998. Adams State University is giving notice of a disturbing act of violence reported to have occurred near the Girault Residence Hall in the center circle of the Rex Parking Lot, on the campus of Adams State University.
REPORTED OFFENSE: A Physical Assault was reported to have occurred on the university’s residential area, in the Rex Parking Lot at approximately 4:45a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016. This location is on the campus of Adams State University just to the West of Girault Residential Hall, on the North end of campus.
SUSPECT: Described as 16-18 year-old male; race unknown, dark skin, possibly Hispanic or Black; Height and Weight unreported; wearing a gray hooded garment.
The complainant reported that she was loading her vehicle in the Rex Parking Lot very early Sunday morning, unaccompanied. As she walked around the back of the vehicle, she passed an unknown male, and while entering the vehicle, was approached by the male, who hit her in the face. Subject fled on foot northbound after being pushed by the victim.
It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the community. It is the duty of our institution to warn of possible "dangerous conditions" on or near ASU campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an "affirmative duty" exists to warn persons associated with this university of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.
Consider carefully whether your presence at or near this complex while unaccompanied could place you in danger.
