The 7th Annual Career Fair - Thursday, March 8th
The Career Fair is a great opportunity to network or gather more information about potential jobs and graduate school. A number of vendors have generously donated door prizes to be awarded to attendees. This event is free to all ASU Students and Alumni.
Tips for Navigating a Career Fair:
- Dress to impress - Avoid the hoodie and sweatpants or ripped jeans look. Clean, wrinkle free, business casual attire is generally a good move.
- Have your Resume Ready - Think about the types of jobs you're looking for and make sure that your resume reflects it. (Feel free to make an appointment with us at the Career Office if you want assistance on getting ready!) Bring multiple copies of your resume with you to pass out to potential employers.
- Treat it like a Mini - Interview - A career fair is a bit like speed dating in the job search world. Prepare questions ahead of time. Recruiters may ask you a few questions, but they want to know that you are really interested in their company. Think about what you are bringing to the table and be ready to share brief stories/ tangible examples from your college career/ work history- accomplishments that you are proud of, times that you had to think quickly on your feet to solve a problem, skills that you have that others may not.
- End it on a high note: Thank the recruiters/ employers for their time, ask for a business card, and move on to the next table that interests you. You might LOVE one employer and it can be easy to lose track of time, or to stop meeting with other folks once you've found someone great. It is important to check out opportunities that you may not have considered- you never know where you can find a great fit
