The Office of Civic Engagement views the larger community as a valuable resource for enhanced student learning and civic-mindedness. Successful placements promote a sense of belonging, purpose and personal well-being that contributes to student retention and success. Strong relationships between Adams State and the community create a seamless fabric that benefits the entire San Luis Valley and region.
The contributions of civic and nonprofit agencies and organizations, as well as local businesses, farms and ranches, provide products and services that sustain the local culture and economy. Connecting Adams State students in meaningful ways with these sectors expands the classroom experience to better prepare students for future careers and creates a dynamic reciprocity
The Office of Civic Engagement invites the community to consider partnering with our office through three levels of involvement
- Short-term volunteerism
- Community Based Learning (CBL)
- Internships
